Jiufen is a really popular spot in Taiwan. It attracts many tourists each year, especially tourists from Japan.
How To Go?
It is very convenient to go to Jiufen, you can go there by train or you can also take a taxi from Taipei. It's not so far from Taipei.
1. Take the train to Ruifang, then transfer the bus to Jiufen. (See the train schedule)
2. Take the MRT to ZhongXiao-Fuxing Station, then take the bus to Jiufen directly.
So easy, right?
but!!!!!
There's an easiest way to get there. You can take the taxi from ZhongXiao-Fuxing Station. It's more expensive.
When we talk about Jiufen, it always reminds us of the Japanese animation "Spirited Away". The director of this famous animation, Miyazaki Hayao, is quite famous in Taiwan. Almost every Taiwanese knows this talented painter, and we've known him since we were young. His movies are always touching and environment-friendly.
Jiufen became a famous resort since some said that the background of "Spirited away" came from here, many Japanese people started to visit here and the tea restaurants attract more and more tourists each year.
Though I didn't understand what the animation talked about (maybe I am just stupid and I would never understand.), but this animation truly makes this place become more interesting than it was before.
Last time we went to a tea restaurant, many Japanese travelers were around us, they were chatting with each other in Japanese and it made me confused if I was in Japan.
I'd like to recommend you to go there and stay there for one night to see the beautiful night view of this small village.

It's very crowded on weekends all the time, so if it's possible, I suggest that you should come here during week days. And remember it rains sometimes here, so before planning to visit Jiufen, it's better to check the weather forecast first.
